Our Story

Built for Excellence

Paschim Dhemaji College was established in 1997 at Paschim Dhemaji, near Ghuguha Dole — a socio-economically and educationally backward rural area inhabited by peace-loving people of diverse castes and communities including ST, SC, OBC & MOBC groups.

The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and recognized by U.G.C. under 2(F) & 12(B). It is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 with Registration No. RS/DMJ/241/A/06 dated 11th August, 2005.

The area where the college is located covers 157 villages with a population exceeding 90,000. Prior to our establishment, there was no institution for higher education in this region, despite more than a thousand students passing the H.S. Examination annually. Many remained confined to their homes due to economic constraints and poor transportation — a situation compounded by severe annual flooding since 1983.

To address this critical gap, dedicated community members founded the college, which has served with notable academic achievement for over two decades. Our 38 permanent and contractual faculty members are well-qualified, young, energetic, and deeply committed to student success.
